Tracy re-located to Devon in 2002 from Bradford, Yorkshire with her husband and children. She moved to have a better quality of life for her children; the slower pace of life attracted Tracy to North Devon, as well as the stunning beaches. Here’s Tracy’s story:

Meet Tracy…

Before moving to Devon in 2002 I’d never worked in care. When we first moved, I worked in a shop for a few months and then changed jobs to work in a care home. I discovered that I loved care work; I started as a care assistant and then progressed to a team leader. I stayed in this role until I moved back to Yorkshire in 2011 due to a change in personal circumstances.

The perfect work-life balance.

I soon missed Devon and my daughters and grandchildren who had stayed in North Devon, so I moved back. I’m now the assistant manager in a nursing home and I love my role. I have a great work-life balance, allowing me to spend quality time with my grandchildren, and explore the beautiful beaches, especially Saunton Sands and Westward Ho!

Devon feels like home.

The best part about moving to Devon for me was being able to progress my career. After working in a factory in Bradford with little job satisfaction, I’ve been able to do a job I love in care and progress my career at the same time.

It was a big step to re-locate, but it was the right decision; Devon feels like home.
